Crowdfunding for Social Development
Codice SDI: M5UXCR1
Activate communities, tell value, build the future
Crowdfunding for Social Development is a training course promoted by Mimma Dreams APS in collaboration with Officina Buone Cause, with the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
An initiative designed to support activists, cultural operators, designers, and third sector organizations in creating fundraising campaigns capable of activating communities, conveying the value of a social project, and generating impact.
Divided into modules, the course alternates theory and practice, moments of discussion, and concrete tools for building effective, sustainable, and human campaigns.
The main goal was to provide operational skills to design, launch, and manage crowdfunding campaigns, with a focus on social and cultural issues. For this reason, in addition to modules dedicated to crowdfunding, together with other experts we focused on marketing for the third sector and project management—a comprehensive course to launch your own campaigns.

Planned Activities
Expected results and impacts
The course “Crowdfunding for Social Causes” aims to provide participants with practical and theoretical tools to design and manage effective fundraising campaigns in the cultural and social sectors. The expected outcomes include the acquisition of specific skills, such as the ability to define the unique value of their projects, identify appropriate donation tiers, and build a first draft of a campaign that can convey a clear and engaging vision.
At the end of the course, the results exceeded expectations: participants not only acquired new technical skills, but also new perspectives, relationships, and concrete opportunities for activation. They left with practical tools to build effective campaigns, but above all with a renewed awareness of their own value and the potential of their ideas.
In particular, they learned to describe complex projects with simple and powerful words, capable of engaging and mobilizing a community of supporters. This transformed crowdfunding into a form of “creative activism,” a tool to make donors protagonists of change and to strengthen social and cultural organizations.
The course was developed in three modules, combining theory, practice, and peer discussion.
In the first classroom module (April 11-12, 2025), we focused on the basics of crowdfunding: the meaning of giving, fundraising markets, and building an effective campaign. Through guided exercises, we worked on cost examples, the added value of projects, and the first narrative drafts of fundraising campaigns.
The second module, on May 20, was dedicated to communication: we built the target persona, explored tone of voice and channels, and learned how to differentiate content between social media, newsletters, events, and landing pages. The goal: to speak with someone, not to everyone.
The course concluded with an online module on project management, focused on the strategic planning of campaigns. We analyzed tools and methods to organize time, resources, and activities, turning ideas into concrete and sustainable projects.
