3...2...1: READY TO RECORD: The workshop that turns ideas into podcasts
From August 18 to 20, the “Un Nuovo Sguardo” (A New Perspective) workshop took place, a project by Mimma Dreams in collaboration with partner CDI.MK, where participants took their very first steps into the world of podcasting.
Leading the group was Teresa Zamolo, a trainer who, thanks to her personal and professional expertise, guided participants “from zero to podcasters” in just a few days. With her, they explored the role of communication in storytelling, with a particular focus on the SUCCESS method, one of the most widely used models for making ideas both memorable and effective.

The method, developed by Chip and Dan Heath in their book Made to Stick, identifies six key features of impactful communication: Simple, Unexpected, Concrete, Credible, Emotional, Stories.
In other words, a message works when it is simple and clear, capable of surprising, concrete and easy to visualize, credible through data or testimonials, emotional enough to create a connection, and told through stories, the most powerful tool to convey values and leave a lasting impression.
Not just theory: the workshop was also a hands-on lab. Participants learned how to use Audacity, one of the most popular open-source software tools for audio recording and editing. Free and available for Windows, Mac and Linux, Audacity offers intuitive tools to record, cut, mix and enhance audio tracks, with features ranging from noise reduction to compression, as well as the use of external plug-ins. It is a versatile tool, ideal for those approaching podcasting, and in this project it will be used for the production of the episodes.

The core of the program, however, was the focus on content: stereotypes and gender-based violence. Through activities, discussions and shared moments of reflection, participants analyzed how prejudices influence everyday life and how violence, in its many forms, manifests both online and offline. This approach is essential to developing an aware and responsible narrative, one that can raise awareness and engage the audience.
The collaboration between Mimma Dreams and CDI.MK proved to be a success: in just a few days, participants gained the skills needed to launch the first season of the podcast, “Gender Matters?”, which will explore these very topics through interviews and testimonials.
